Our mission

We believe that when everyday life feels overwhelming, it is rarely because someone is failing. More often, the demands of daily life outweigh the resources available to cope.

At Rooted Regulation , we work alongside adults, families and services to understand what is making life harder than it should be. Together, we identify strengths, reduce unnecessary demands, and create practical, meaningful solutions that make everyday life feel more manageable and sustainable.

Our aim is not to change who people are. It is to create the conditions in which they can participate in the things that matter, build confidence, and thrive.

I’m an Advanced Specialist Occupational Therapist.

Rooted Regulation grew out of a growing frustration with how often people are misunderstood.

In my work, I’ve seen people described as unmotivated, disengaged, or challenging—when what’s really happening is something much more complex.

Everyday life becomes difficult when the demands placed on us don’t match what we have available—whether that’s energy, focus, sensory tolerance, or support.

My work focuses on helping people understand their own patterns, and exploring small changes in environment, activity, and expectations that support more sustainable ways of living.

I work across adult mental health and neurodevelopmental services, including advanced sensory integration approaches, supporting more sustainable ways of living and working.

Outside of work, I’m usually balancing family life in a neurodiverse household, getting outside into nature, or finding time for music and movement (often in the kitchen). Those everyday experiences continue to shape how I think about this work.

I am an Advanced Specialist Occupational Therapist working across mental health and neurodiversity services. My approach is shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience, including my own journey through burnout.

Having experienced how exhaustion can persist even when things appear to be going well. This has led me to challenge common narratives around “laziness,” “lack of motivation,” and “disengagement,” recognising instead the impact of reduced capacity.

 

I am passionate about helping people reframe these experiences and make small, meaningful changes to their environment and routines to support greater capacity, engagement, and wellbeing. I have postgraduate training in sensory integration and draw on a range of approaches to support individuals in reconnecting with positive emotions, meaning, and a sense of achievement, ultimately improving quality of life.

 

Outside of work, I have a strong interest in the therapeutic benefits of nature, animals, and movement. Spending time outdoors, particularly with animals, and engaging in physical activity are key parts of how I maintain my own wellbeing, and continues to shape and inspire my practice.

I am an Advanced Specialist Occupational Therapist with experience across the NHS and charity sector, working in mental health, dementia, learning disability, autism and neurodevelopmental assessment services. Throughout my career, I have led teams and supported the development of services, always striving to foster collaborative approaches that place individuals and their families at the heart of what we do.

I truly believe people thrive when they are understood, valued and supported to do the things that matter most to them. I enjoy getting to know each person’s story and walking alongside individuals, families and teams as they navigate challenges and grow together.

I am passionate about helping people, families and teams to flourish, and about creating environments where everyone feels heard, empowered and able to thrive. Outside of work, I am a strong advocate for the connection between health, meaningful activity and the natural world. I love surfing, trail running and snowboarding, and I have experienced firsthand the positive impact that movement, purpose and time outdoors can have on wellbeing.
